چکیده

Introduction Deforestation of areas for agriculture and cattle breeding is the leading cause ecological degradation loss biodiversity. The solution to mitigate these damages relies on techniques that improve soil health microbial quality degraded areas. Here, we demonstrate high nutrient microbiological contents Amazonian Dark Earths (ADE) can promote development trees used in restoration projects. Methods We from crops as control ADE Central Amazon conduct experiment, using 20% inoculum agricultural soil. Our goal was assess whether a small amount could changes plant similar its growth under 100%ADE. simulated conversion pasture forest area by planting U. brizantha all pots. After 60 days, removed it planted Cecropia pachystachya , Peltophorum dubium Cedrela fissilis . Results results demonstrated both 20%ADE 100%ADE treatments increased productivity and, consequently, carbon stock. Also, treatments, P. C. had better development, with plants showing performance those Both showed numbers taxa, being significantly higher than Discussion sufficient increase richness soil, providing several beneficial microorganisms tree species such Pedomicrobium Candidatus Nitrososphaera members Paenebacillaceae. Nevertheless, common pioneer Forest response even corresponding lower taxa number other two species. In conclusion, point out structure remains very among but dissimilar highlighting role an enhancer microbiota enrichment rhizosphere. use alter community. Therefore, believe our data contribute speeding up programs adopting new biotechnological approaches ecology.

Posttreatment tree mortality after forest ecological restoration, Arizona, United States.

Pine-oak forests are of high ecological importance worldwide, but many are threatened by uncharacteristically severe wildfire. Forest restoration treatments, including the reintroduction of a surface fire regime, are intended to decrease fire hazard and emulate historic ecosystem structure and function. Restoration has recently received much management attention and short-term study, but little...

Molecular signature and sources of biochemical recalcitrance of organic C in Amazonian Dark Earths

Amazonian Dark Earths (ADE) are a unique type of soils developed through intense anthropogenic activities that transformed the original soils into Anthrosols throughout the Brazilian Amazon Basin. We conducted a comparative molecularlevel investigation of soil organic C (SOC) speciation in ADE (ages between 600 and 8700 years B.P.) and adjacent soils using ultraviolet photo-oxidation coupled wi...

Experimental Native Tree Seedling Establishment for the Restoration of a Mexican Cloud Forest

The cloud forests of Mexico have been degraded and severely fragmented, and urgently require restoration. However, progress with restoration has been constrained by a lack of information concerning the seedling ecology of native tree species. An experiment was therefore conducted to assess the influence of different environmental factors on the seedling survival and growth of four native tree s...

Object-Based Classification of UltraCamD Imagery for Identification of Tree Species in the Mixed Planted Forest

This study is a contribution to assess the high resolution digital aerial imagery for semi-automatic analysis of tree species identification. To maximize the benefit of such data, the object-based classification was conducted in a mixed forest plantation. Two subsets of an UltraCam D image were geometrically corrected using aero-triangulation method. Some appropriate transformations were perfor...

Rapid decay of tree-community composition in Amazonian forest fragments.

Forest fragmentation is considered a greater threat to vertebrates than to tree communities because individual trees are typically long-lived and require only small areas for survival. Here we show that forest fragmentation provokes surprisingly rapid and profound alterations in Amazonian tree-community composition. Results were derived from a 22-year study of exceptionally diverse tree communi...
